ID Requirements When Booking Air
When booking any air travel, Secure Flight Passenger Data is now required to be submitted at the time of booking.
Secure Flight Passenger Data includes each passenger’s full legal name (as it appears on the government issued photo ID that the passenger will present at the airport), date of birth and gender. If the Secure Flight Passenger Data is not available at the time of booking, the airline reservation will not be accepted.
Most online booking engines have already been modified to provide fields for entering this information when booking airfare. If you have already booked a flight for travel on or after November 1, 2010, you will need to contact your airline to provide this information before departure. There is no “grandfather” clause, so nobody is exempt from these requirements.
