New Themed Rooms Coming to Disney Resort Hotels?
A current Disney survey is asking select guests for their opinions on themed rooms at the Disney resort hotels.
As you may know, a handful of rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort have been converted to “Pirate” rooms, with pirate ship beds, wood plank carpeting, crates as furniture and other elaborate details. These rooms currently rent for about $30/night more than a standard room. Here are a couple of photos of a current Pirate Room:
These rooms have proven to be very popular, so Disney is considering the addition of more themed rooms at other Moderate Resorts. Right now, they’re presenting photos of mock-up rooms along with questions such as “Which room do you like better?” and “Would you pay $30/night extra to stay here?”
One room type being considered is the Royal Room, which would be adorned with regal bedding, crown moulding along the ceilings, lush fabrics and draperies, and artifacts from classic Disney princess films (namely Beauty and the Beast). Here are a couple of photos of this room type, which would most likely be implemented in the mansions of the Magnolia Bend area of Port Orleans Riverside.
Lastly, and possibly our favorite, is the Haunted Mansion Room. Of the three room types, we think these rooms bear the most elaborate theming and immersive experience. The beds resemble the famous Doom Buggies, the walls are covered in Haunted Mansion wallpaper, there are glowing footprints on the ceiling, a marble bust watches you as you move around the room, and the armchair bears a striking resemblance to the one near the “endless hallway” in the ride.
Looking at the photos below, you might notice that the table near the window is levitating. Rumors are that a ghostly apparition appears in the mirror, and that the bookcase slides back and forth across the opening to the dressing area and restroom.
