Planning a Walt Disney World Vacation with Military Discount

Planning a Walt Disney World Vacation with Military Discount

Have you heard?  Great offers on Walt Disney World hotel rooms and tickets are available to active and retired service members.  These offers are available on a yearly basis and differ from other discount offers.

See this page for the full terms and more information about these offers.  Active duty and retired military qualify, and a spouse can use these discounts if the service member is not present.  Military ID showing active or retired status or permanently disabled veteran is required.  Veterans who did not retire do not qualify for these discounts.

To best take advantage of these offers we should design your trip around the ticket you select.  2017’s offer is a 4-Day Park Hopper or a 5-Day Park Hopper.  You can choose to add Water Park Fun & More for a small charge.  Let’s say you select the 5-Day Park Hopper + Water Park Fun & More option, how might we plan your trip?

First, we’ll need to select your trip dates, ensuring they are outside the blocked dates for spring break and Christmas.  A Saturday to Friday trip is a good length.  Once we have dates in mind, we will call to check on availability on the military room discount.  When we find a good match for you, we book this room as a package.  This allows you to bundle Memory Maker, vacation protection, and a Disney dining plan with your hotel cost.  After your deposit, the final payment due date is 30 days before check-in.  Your military ID is required upon check-in at the hotel for validation of your discount eligibility.

Your package reservation takes care of your hotel, but what about your tickets?  This is where the military offers differ drastically from other offers.  You will buy your tickets separately from your hotel package.  Buying these tickets at your local MWR or ITT office is a great option.  You won’t pay sales tax there, saving you even more.  You must then activate your tickets at a Walt Disney World ticket booth or Guest Relations before using them at a turnstile.  Your military ID validating your eligibility for the offer is required during activation and all guests using the tickets must be present.

If you aren’t able to buy your tickets locally, you can also purchase these special tickets at a Walt Disney World ticket booth or Guest Relations.  Your tickets can be purchased and activated in one visit.  You pay sales tax when buying the tickets at a ticket booth.  Again, proper ID for validation of eligibility is required.

Here’s an example of all you can do on a 6 night, 7 day trip with your 5-Day Park Hopper + Water Park Fun & More military tickets!

Saturday – Arrive at Walt Disney World!  Visit Disney Springs for dinner, activate tickets at  Guest Relations window in preparation for your first park day.

Sunday – Visit Epcot, possibly visiting the pavilion of a country in which you’ve been stationed or TDY!

Monday – Visit Animal Kingdom, park hop to the Magic Kingdom for fireworks.

Tuesday – All day in the Magic Kingdom!

Wednesday – Sleep in and enjoy some water fun in Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach.  Visit Hollywood Studios in the evening.

Thursday – Spend your last park day revisiting your favorite attractions or ones you missed earlier in the trip.  This is a great day to park hop.

Friday – Time to head home.  If you’re too sad to leave right away, end the trip with a character meal at a resort hotel.

These two special military discount offers are a great deal and can help put your Walt Disney World vacation dreams within reach!  As a child of the Air Force I understand what it’s like growing up in the military and how that can affect your vacation plans.  Some family time in the Most Magical Place on Earth can be just what you need!  We’d be delighted to help you plan your next Walt Disney World vacation; say you’re interested in the military offers in the comments box of our Quote Request.  Thank you for your service!
